BrickBit: What's Next?
Hey everyone! We've got a couple more things to announce that we've been working on behind the scenes, and we're finally ready to talk about them.
Early August Release
These features are currently planned to release in early August, assuming everything goes smoothly. We're doing final testing and polishing to make sure they're ready before they go live.
Mobile Release
BrickBit is officially coming to mobile. You'll be able to play on phones and tablets with controls and interfaces designed specifically for touch devices. We've been making adjustments across the platform to ensure everything feels natural to use on smaller screens, and we'll continue improving things based on feedback after launch.
Guest Accounts
We're also introducing Guest Accounts.
New players will be able to jump straight into games without creating an account first, making it easier to try out BrickBit before signing up.
Guests will receive automatically generated usernames, such as Guest9382, a default appearance, and limited access to certain features. Community systems such as trading, groups, and content creation will remain exclusive to registered accounts, but guests will still be free to explore games and experience the platform.
The goal is to make getting started as simple as possible while still keeping the platform secure and easy to moderate. If you just want to hop in and play, you'll be able to do exactly that without any extra steps.
V2 Client
The V2 client is also arriving with this update.
This is a major upgrade over the current client and lays the groundwork for many of the features we've wanted to implement for a long time. Alongside general performance improvements, it brings better support for future updates, improved stability, and a more modern foundation for the platform going forward.
There are still plenty of things we'll continue refining after release, but V2 marks a huge step forward for BrickBit as a whole.
New Workshop & Luau Support
We're also introducing an entirely new Workshop experience with support for Luau scripting.
The current tools have served us well, but it's time for something more powerful and easier to work with. The new Workshop has been rebuilt with creators in mind, giving developers access to modern scripting tools and a more streamlined building experience.
Whether you're making simple projects or larger games, Luau support should make development significantly more flexible and approachable.
Why We're Adding This
Not everyone wants to create an account before trying something new, and not everyone plays exclusively on desktop anymore. These updates are focused on making BrickBit easier to access while also giving creators better tools to build with.
Combined with the V2 client and the new Workshop, this update represents one of the biggest steps forward for the platform so far.
Other Stuff
• Mobile UI optimizations across the website and client
• Improved touch controls and navigation
• Guest players have their own identifier in-game
• Additional moderation tools for guest activity
• V2 client performance and stability improvements
• New Workshop tools and Luau scripting support
• More bug fixes and backend improvements behind the scenes
Everything is currently on track for an early August release, and we'll keep everyone updated if anything changes. Thanks for sticking around, and as always, let us know if you find bugs or have suggestions on the forums.
